Count Up the Cost

Every where you turn there seems to be so much advertisement and media that is telling us what we need and should buy. “Buy this chair and you’ll relieve yourself of stress”, “Get rid of that old clunker and come see more for some sporty wheels”, or “It’s time to update your old phone so that you can keep up with your clients and family.” And since most of us live by our mobile phones there is a constant bombardment that goes on all day. They know what we like due to those invisible network cookies that keep up with our online activities.

That’s why that dress shirt you were looking at shows up in your news feed. They are definitely after our money but in order to maintain a good financial resume WE MUST RESIST the influences that want us to burn a hole through the mag-stripe of our debit card.

Happiness will always outlast temporary pleasures. If your used car is paid for, and running fine why exchange it for a new car note? If your apartment seems tight, and you’re financially comfortable, this might not be the right time for you to pursue that two story dream home? Trust us…there will be plenty of homes available when the time is right! Making big purchases unnecessarily can lead to huge headaches, and for some of us financial ruin. Financial freedom should be your ultimate goal. The more money you waste on things, the longer you will be under the rule of the lender.

You have to really count up the cost when it comes to your finances. Maybe your friends are able to go shopping whenever they want, but they’re not paying your bills, and I am pretty sure they are not making deposits into your bank account. So get focused and put things in perspective. Forget about the “Jones’s” and stay on track. Avoid making these foolish financial mistakes that can have long term consequences.
